High Chief Lanre Bashorun, widely known as LarryBash, has declared his intention to run for the House of Representatives seat representing Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency in 2027, citing the urgent need for a “massive social welfare and infrastructural development turnaround” in the constituency.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to his Okede ancestral home in Sango-Ota, by members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ado-Odo/Ota Online Chapel.
The Seriki of Ota, popularly known as Larry Bash said "i'm not only a politician but a grassroots person, security expert, businessman, and a philantropist, who has been involved in many humanitarian, social and political interventions in the local government resolving germane issues affecting the people constituents career, well being, health, and education among others."
“I believe it is time for me to come out and contest for the seat of House of Representatives to represent Ado Odo/Ota Federal Constituency,” he said.
“Essentially, I have been a grassroots person who is familiar with the needs of my people, because I am always with them.
“When I returned back home in 2017, I created a trust fund where I am paying monthly salaries to old people, offering scholarships, footing hospital bills for the indigent across the local government.
At times, I wonder where are the peoples representing us, I did these interventions from my personal purse, like I said earlier, I am a grassroots person, I feel what my people feel, I know their pains.”
Bashorun’s robust credentials lend credence to his grassroots acumen, being the Seriki of Ota, the Secretary to Olota in Council, and the Chief of Staff to Olota of Ota, Aworiland, shows he is fully prepared for the job.
He recalled how he had helped politicians resolved knotty political issues within the local government area and also organised an industrial summit to foster mutual relationship between the people and the industries in the local government in creating employment opportunities for the ideal youths.
“Politicians come to me for consultations on political issues, and I have helped them resolved knotty political issues. So why can’t I contest? In Ado Odo/Ota Federal Constituency we are crying and shouting for development, this is why I am joining the race.
“Previously, I have been involved in several interventions in Ado Odo/ Ota, I have organised industrial summit, and had facilitated employment for the youths not only here but also in Lagos, because I have the data on their skills and qualifications. I am not stopping yet, “he added.
Bashorun promised a good representation of his people. He said he would be focusing on attracting more developments to the Ado Odo/Ota Federal Constituency in the areas of infrastructure such as having more modern markets, modern parks, reconstruction of roads, sporting and recreational facilities and other amenities because according to him, “this Federal Constituency has become so large and we need continuous intervention.”
‘Having me in 2027 as the Rep for the Ado Odo/ Ota Federal Constituency, the Constituency will see the best of representation when I get to the National Assembly, because I have the experience, financial and social wherewithal to deliver ” he concluded.
